Corporate Social Responsibilities
CP Prima operates one of the most self-contained operating sites of any industry. As part of our vertical integration ad efficiency goals, all of our farmers, employees and their families live on-site at the Company’s facilities which include primary and secondary schools for children, healthcare clinics, places of worship, civic centers, provisionary stores, recreational facilities, banking service and a police station.
The unique nature of our business allows us to naturally incorporate Corporate Social Responsibility values and benefits as an integral part of our business. What we provide to the communities who live and work in our operating sites, are returned to the Company in the form of productivity, commitment and growth. In turn, the Company’s growth impact directly upon the community’s growing income and greater welfare.
In addition, we continue to be active in projects that sustain both the environment and our business. As at year-end 2009, CP Prima had re-planted 3,220 hectares of mangroves, of the total targeted area of 5,200 hectares by 2011. The mangrove replanting project, involving CP Prima and all of our subsidiaries, is part of our green belt restoration efforts, whilst also providing natural protection to our farms from beach erosion and allowing healthy marine life to return to coastal areas.
